HCP's Exclusive interview with Mr.Ali Asghar Khan Executive Director at Omar Asghar Khan Development Foundation and potential Candidate for Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf from Abbottabad Hazara. Read more about Mr. Ali Ashar Khan and his work on www.hazara.com.pk. Ali Asghar Khan is a renowned politician from Hazara. He belongs to Abbottabad and received his early education from the Abbottabad Public School. On completion of his studies at APS he was declared 'The Outstanding Student' of the year. He was a keen sportsman and was the Captain of the Swimming Team and Vice Captain of the Hockey Team. Architect by profession Ali Asghar Khan has excelled in his field. He gave proof of his ability by performing exceptionally well in his professional education in the U.K. and is the first Muslim student ever to get a first class honours and a distinction on the completion of his professional studies (RIBA Part 3) from the Royal Institute of British Architects U.K. He has for the last nine years as the Executive Director of Omar Asghar Khan Foundation focused on political advocacy across the country and particularly the Hazara region and it's people. Under his leadership the Foundation has gained international recognition for its extensive work in the 2005 earthquake, helping the displaced families from Malakand in 2009 and working relentlessly with communities affected by the 2010 floods. The contributions the foundation has made through its various programmes over the last six years is estimated to be hundreds of miilions of rupees. He is founder of Tehreek Huqooq e Hazara (Movement for Rights of Hazara) and is also active in national politics .He has extensive experience in political mobilization and has maintained close contact with local people in Hazara. He is aware of the issues and has in-depth knowledge of communities across it's six districts which has been attained though a network of social and political activists that remain involved in the foundation's work. On footsteps of his father Air Marshal (R) Asghar Khan and brother Omar Asghar Khan, he is doing remarkable work for the rights of people especially in Hazara. In 2009 Ali Asghar Khan also initiated a national campaign named Aman Ittehad (Alliance for Peace) which is working in all four provinces including FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan . Ali Asghar Khan has remained involved in politics since early in life and went on to take an active part in the PNA movement in 1977. He was arrested 3 times between 1973 and 1977 while still in his teens for participating in pro-democracy rallies. He also took active part in the Tehrik e Istiqlal election campaigns and managed the campaign of his father in Lahore against Mian Nawaz Sharif. In 1990. He later went on to contest the general elections unsuccessfully from NA-17 Abbottabad. The decision to participate in the election was taken after the murder of his brother, Omar Asghar Khan. The circumstances only allowed him an election campaign spanning less than 20 days. The election however helped him to define his future strategy. Ali Asghar Khan is member of the Central Executive Committee of Pakistan Tehrik Insaf and is playing a very active role within the PTI. Honesty, integrity, vision, courage and truth are the attributes which he has inherited from his father Air Marshal Muhammad Asghar Khan recognised as finest face of Pakistani Politics. --
