Azam Swati's Press Conference on 7th December 2011

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Senator Azam Swati has resigned from the Senate and his party position, HCP News reported on Wednesday. Speaking at a press conference outside the Parliament, Swati said that it was a waste of time to sit in a parliament which could not save Pakistan’s democracy or provide employment to the poor people. He said it is time that all parliamentarians resigned and returned back to the nation. “We should learn a lesson from the Kuwaiti parliament. Their whole parliament resigns when a finger is pointed at any one of them,” he said adding that the government has brought the country to shame and destroyed all cultural, social and economical institutions of the country. He added that the government’s tenure of 3.5 years in power has proved to be a burden for the masses. Swati added that the only institution that is helping the country is the Supreme Court. “All the corruption cases of Hajj, rental power plants, and railways are being heard in the Supreme Court.” Swati’s tenure in the Senate was due to end on March 12. He was also the former minister for science and technology.
