  He is former Nazim of Mansehra District in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.He is a member, and a provincial secretary-general, of the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-azam).Now a days rummer spread about his dialogue with Pml N. Yousuf recently came to prominence for leading the movement of Suba Hazara. He criticised the ANP for ignoring the demand of Suba Hazara. He along with other Suba Hazara staged protest on various cities and Union councils of Hazara as well as in Islamabad.

  His political career started with membership of the district council, winning a provincial assembly seat. He won the Pakistan National Assembly seat for Mansehra for three consecutive terms. After being elected as District Nazim he worked hard for the rehabilitation of the survivors of the 2005 devastating earthquake. His major contribution is resolving the issue of NOC for the poor tenants during earthquake . Now he is chairman of Hazara Suba Thareek where all the political parties from Hazara are united on one forum who are jointly struggling for the rights of Hazarewal people. His son, Sardar Shahjahan Yousuf (current MNA), was the first member who opposed the name Khyber-Pukhtunkhawa in the National Assembly. Sardar Youisf have vary strong group in District Mansehra including Sardar Yousif Minister for State, Syed Qasim Shah Advisor to Prime Minster, Wajih uz zaman MPA, Shazada Ghostasp ex-opposition leader, Zargul Khan and many other prominent figures. Now a days Sardar Yousif is struggling for suba Hazara in Islamabad and seems very hopeful.
